Little Learnings

  1. We either accuse or advocate Jesus when we fall into trouble. On one such occasion, David was asked, “Where is your God,” He answered, “My God is in heaven doing as He pleases (Psalms 115:2-3).” That is, “If my predicament gives Him pleasure, so be it.” Case closed!
  2. The fear of God was first exemplified when Abraham sacrificed his dearest to God (Genesis 22:12). We do not fear God by being scared of Him but by letting Him take the foremost priority in all our considerations and undertakings.
  3. All questions asked Jesus by the Pharisees were traps. But I see His soul rejoice in his Father always, as with a bird from a fowler’s snare (Psalm 124:7), when He had the right words to sink them in their own traps.
  4. Christians are always linked in worldly terms with folly, irrational propositions and exaggerated claims (1 Corinthians 1:18). Marvel, not brethren. The most precious things in this world have been concealed in foolish things from the clever.
  5. He who fears man elevates him over God (Exodus 20:3-5). Do not forget, nevertheless, that the breath in his nostrils is God’s (Isaiah 2:22).
  6. If you waver in unbelief, your feet will be too shaky to take a step of faith. Hence you can never embark on that glorious pilgrimage – following Jesus (Luke 9:23-24).
  7. The faith of Abraham manifested by the New Testament Christian is to believe God can raise a Christ-like man from his sin-dead body. The long-stayed tyranny of sin with its habits, regardless (Romans 7).
  8. Has any sin affected your zeal and devotion to God? Your soul is unhealthy. Therefore, confess it to a fellow fervent brother. His effectual fervent prayer will ensure your healing.
  9. Christ, the author of the Christian faith, made sizable astounding and controversial claims upon which the foundation of our faith and cultures are laid. Marvel not when the world persecutes you! He was killed for making “wrong claims.” For example, “I and my Father (God) are one,” “He that has not the son has no life,” “I am the way the truth and the life,” “I have the power lay down my life and raise it up again.” No other religion makes such claims. Their leaders are either utterly ignorant of the world to come or are, at best, beggarly about it.
  10. Christians have killed more Christians through persecution than any other religion have, just as gossipers kill swifter than murderers.
  11. What if we were better sinners who never met God? One’s condition could not be less pathetic than the Pharisees.
  12. The prodigal son’s father had taught him the core family values: at least of taste. So when He had grown up, grown wild and wandered off, he could not depart from this “way that He should go.”
  13. Sound mind for sound doctrines. Sound doctrine fed through hearing ears wakened morning by morning to listen. Such will not relish in tickling ears.
  14. The revived life is a life in which the “still small voice” is at home with. The thunder may shatter rocks, wildfire blaze the desert all to mean jaw-dropping miracles, and God may not be in them all. Elijah has more to tell us about this.
